New Porsche 2009 911® Models |
|
Porsche today disclosed photos and details for the next generation 911 model series. Four new 911 models go on sale in September in North America – the 911 Carrera Coupe, 911 Carrera Cabriolet, 911 Carrera S Coupe, and 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. All offer a higher level of performance thanks to their all-new flat-six engines displacing 3.6 and 3.8 liters respectively. And for the first time in a Porsche sports car, engines utilize direct fuel injection (DFI) and can be coupled with the new optional 7-speed double-clutch gearbox Porsche-Doppelkupplung (PDK), racing inspired technology and a Porsche first. The result of these new technologies allows Porsche to once again boost performance of the 911, yet improve fuel efficiency by up to 13 percent as measured in the European driving cycle.
Maximum output of the 911 Carrera with its 3.6-liter engine is up by 20 horsepower to 345. The 911 Carrera S with its 3.8-liter engine is equally impressive, up by 30 horsepower to 385. With this extra power, the Carrera S now offers a top speed of 188 mph.
The new generation 911 is available for the first time with the new Porsche-Doppelkupplung (PDK), Porsche’s double-clutch gearbox. The seven speed gearbox combines the driving comfort of an automatic transmission with the gearshift capacity of a sequential gearbox used in race cars. Since Porsche’s double-clutch also boasts an automatic gearshift function, it replaces the former Porsche Tiptronic S automatic transmission on both the Carrera and Carrera S. PDK improves acceleration while reducing fuel consumption over the previous generation of Tiptronic S equipped 911s through optimized and adaptive gearshifts.
Porsche developed this gearshift principle for racing no less than 25 years ago. It features two parallel clutches to eliminate any interruption in power delivery and eliminates even the slightest break between gears. Porsche factory drivers benefiting from this technology were able to accelerate faster than their competitors and keep both hands on the wheel while shifting gears, thus avoiding even the slightest distraction. This pioneering achievement from Porsche’s racing efforts now gives the new 911 Carrera and Carrera S even better performance. The Carrera equipped with PDK covers 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds and the Carrera S reaches the same speed in 4.3 which is 0.2 seconds faster than with a manual six-speed gearbox. The customer in search of optimum driving dynamics even has the option to combine PDK with Porsche’s optional Sport Chrono Plus including Launch Control. The result is high-speed acceleration free of wheel spin from a standstill and a racing shift pattern to further boost performance. The Carrera equipped with the Sport Chrono Plus accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds while the Carrera S sprints to 60 mph in an outstanding 4.1.
Exterior enhancements of the new 911 stand out clearly through innovations in design and technology. The refined front bumper has larger air intakes which signal an increase in power and the newly designed dual-arm exterior mirrors give a larger field of vision to the rear of the car. LED daytime driving lights and bi-xenon headlights will be standard on all new models, as well as LED tail and brake lights. This gives the 911 an even more distinctive style and a truly unique look from the front and rear. As a further option, Porsche now also offers Dynamic Cornering Lights on all models. In Porsche fashion, these new refinements do not change the drag coefficient of the 911 as it stays at a remarkable 0.29.
The latest Porsche Communication Management system, PCM 3.0, which includes a new touchscreen feature, will be standard on all new 911s. Along with this upgraded system, options such as a hard disk drive navigation system, XM radio with XM NavTraffic capability, Bluetooth® connectivity, iPOD® port, USB port, and aux jack will be available.
2009 911 U.S. pricing starts at $75,600 for the Carrera Coupe, $86,200 for the Carrera Cabriolet and the Carrera S Coupe, and the Carrera S Cabriolet is $96,800.
Note: Photos of the new Porsche 911 Carrera are available to accredited journalists
on the Porsche Press Database at www.press.porsche.com.

America The Beautiful |
Paul Rusnak, President and CEO Rusnak Auto Group, Maestra Rachel Worby and Liz Rusnak Arizmendi at the POPS |
Music
lovers experienced our journey as a nation when Maestra Rachael
Worby and The Pasadena POPS presented “I Hear America
Singing” Friday, Aug. 15, through Sunday, Aug. 17, at Descanso
Gardens.
Joining The POPS were guest artists David Gagnon, tenor; Eric Owens, bass baritone; Khori Dastoor, soprano; Heather Henderson, mezzo soprano, saxophonist Douglas Masek, and the Lula Washington Dance Theatre.
All things American were celebrated, starting with a reading of Walt Whitman’s I Hear America Singing from his Leaves of Grass, followed by John Philip Sousa’s rousing The Stars and Stripes Forever and John Adams’ exuberant minimalist work, Short Ride In A Fast Machine. A reading from Langston Hughes’ poem Let America Be America Again was followed by a dance presentation of Duke Ellington’s The River performed by The Lula Washington Dance Theatre. Soprano Khori Dastoor and tenor David Gagnon were featured in Suite No. 1 from West Side Story in a 90th birthday tribute to Leonard Bernstein.
The POPS opened the second part of the concert with the Suite from Laura Karpman’s score for the hugely popular videogame EverQuest II. Saxophonist Douglas Masek joined The POPS for Escapades from John Williams’ film score for Catch Me If You Can. George Gershwin’s Overture to the hit-filled (Embraceable You, I Got Rhythm) musical Girl Crazy followed. Eric Owens took the stage for Simple Gifts, Boatman’s Dance, Zion’s Walls, The River from Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs. Gagnon, Owens and Ms. Dastoor and The POPS closed the concert with Carmen Dragon’s stunning arrangement of America the Beautiful.
The POPS summer concert season at Descanso Gardens closes with “Summertime ... and The Listening is Easy,” Sept. 5-7, featuring guest artists violinist and concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Martin Chalifour and soprano Shana Blake Hill.
The Pasadena POPS season at Descanso Gardens is sponsored by Rusnak Audi Pasadena and Bentley Pasadena, part of the Rusnak Auto Group.

Dear
Mr. Rusnak,
Thank you for all the sweet gifts. I really like Mayham’s
autographed picture, the St Francis football, and the USA Men’s
Water Polo team’s signed by the players. My favorite was the big
MVP trophy.
I enjoyed meeting the local athletes, an American Gladiator, the
Laker Girls, and the four Water Polo team members. Genai was
very friendly and he lifted me onto his shoulders. I had a wonderful
and memorable evening thanks to you.
 From,

Dear Liz,
Were you sweating it out a little when our team made it to the gold medal game? The USA Men’s Waterpolo Team were thinking about you. Thanks for your support from Bentley Pasadena.

Dear
Sir,
I want to tell you about my recent experience with Rusnak
Auto Group. A few months back I had a negative experience
with an Audi dealer in Fresno, California due to the fact my car
needed some services and the closest dealer was Fresno. I picked
up my car with a very bad taste for the dealer and the Audi warranty
that were both of no help. More recently I brought my car in for
service at Rusnak Audi - and again, the same story
with the warranty. After John Kalandjian tried
his best to get the car serviced to no avail I spoke to Chris
Aldworth - and what a great help he was. He spoke with
both the warranty company and with Audi North America and with
his efforts my car was serviced and repaired to my satisfaction.
I have always been very well taken care of at Rusnak Audi with
the help of John Kalandjian over the years and again with some
help with Chris Aldworth. I cannot speak more highly of the Rusnak
Auto Group and your Audi team. I look forward to purchasing
my next Audi from Rusnak. As a business owner, I know how common
it is to only hear the complaints and rarely does someone take
the time to give credit or compliment a job well done. I applaud
your team.
Thanks for a job very well done.
Sincerely,
David Dobbs
Bakersfield
Dear
Mr. Rusnak,
Thanks to the generosity of individuals like you, your participation
in The Art of Fun-Raising hosted by Rusnak Auto Group at
the Color Me Mine, Glendale Studio on July 17th, supports the Trauma
Program at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
I am pleased to announce to you that over $3,400 was raised! Your
participation in The Art of Fun-Raising will ensure the continuation
of information sharing and education on injury prevention topics,
such as fall prevention, evacuations, violence prevention and the
Bicycle, Car Seat & Safety Belt Safe Campaign.
Our Trauma Program is the only free standing Level I Pediatric
Trauma Center in Los Angeles County that is verified by the American
College of Surgeons. The Program provides a complete continuum
of pediatric trauma care, combined with an active program of education,
research and prevention. The Trauma Program at Childrens Hospital
Los Angeles has three distinct areas: Acute Care, Injury Prevention
and Disaster Preparedness. Injury Prevention is the key component
needed to break the cycle of trauma. Through our ongoing collaborative
efforts with others in the community we are reaching more families
with our injury messages and interventions than ever before. The
Art of Fun-Raising provided us with the opportunity to demonstrate
proper use of a car seat and carry that message into the community.
We hope that you found this information valuable.
On behalf of the seriously ill and injured children and youth who
find help and hope at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, thank you
again for participating in The Art of Fun-Raising – we hope you
enjoyed your afternoon.
Kind Regards,
Ashley Huddleston
Assistant Director,
Special Events
Childrens Hospital Los Angeles
Dear Liz and Andrew Arizmendi,
Thank you so much for having us as your guests at the “POPS” on Friday. What a pleasant evening it was. We enjoyed the group at your table and the performance was outstanding. It was our first time at the “POPS” and we were really impressed with the quality of the music and other performances.
We thank you again for your generosity and kindness. Hoping that the rest of your summer is relaxing and fun.
Your friends,
Holly and Chip Nettels
